Marking its first foray into creating an animated property completely in-house, L.A.-based Brain Zoo Studios has launched its first short 3D film Pepe & Lucas.

Paying homage to Charlie Chaplin and silent films, the romantic comedy short features a conflict between two classic forms of street entertainers – clowns and mimes. In Pepe and Lucas’ efforts to rule the streets, mayhem ensues involving an army of robot clowns, squawking chickens, invisible mechanical suits and flaming car chases.

Pepe & Lucas is set to be released later this year. Since launching in 1995, Brain Zoo has worked with global brands including Disney, Marvel, Mattel, and Sony, as well as gaming clients such as Activision/Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Lucas Arts and Namco-Bandai.
