Paris-based Alphanim has appointed Italian licensing agency TeamWorks to rep its Calimero property in Italy.
The agreement comes shortly after the news that the new CGI Calimero series by Alphanim and Milan’s Studio Campedelli will bow on Italian pubcaster RAI in 2013 coinciding with the brand’s 50th anniversary. RAI is the same channel that aired the original series in the 1960s and 70s.
Alphanim, which developed the new 104 x 11-minute series with TF1, distributes the program and manages the brand internationally on behalf of rights owner Calidra.
Calimero originated in 1963 as an animated series that was part of the Carosello advertising show broadcast on RAI through the 1960s and 70s. A total of 130 half hours and 290 episodes of Calimero programming were then produced in the 1970s and 1990s, airing in over 79 countries.
