The global not-for-profit Women in Toys organization has announced it will open a Canadian division headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

The organization, which provides a professional networking base for women working in the toys, entertainment and licensing industries, currently includes more than 100 influential female executives.

WIT Canada co-chair and Corus Entertainment’s manager of North American licensing Mellany Masterson, with WIT Canada co-chair Jessica Gavin, are currently seeking new members from across the country and are planning quarterly events.

The new division further expands the organization’s Canadian presence with Vancouver already playing host to a chapter and new chapters planned for Montreal and elsewhere.

WIT Canada’s next Toronto event will be held on May 16, 2012 at the Corus Quay Building in Toronto.

The latest news also comes after the 2012 Wonder Women of Toys award winners were announced at New York’s Toy Fair in February.
