UK-based indie prodco Shine Group is creating a new production company dedicated to producing preschool content, and it’s snapped up long-time Ragdoll creative mind Andrew Davenport to head up the new venture.

Davenport, creator of Ragdoll’s In the Night Garden and co-creator of Teletubbies, will serve as the yet-to-be-named company’s CEO starting next month.

Shine’s group sales and distribution arm Shine International will handle the distribution of the company’s properties, and Shine 360° will manage non-broadcast rights.

The news comes as Shine recently boosted its interactive capabilities by acquiring social gaming specialists Bossa Studios and digital producer ChannelFlip.
