Tokyo-based production studio Toei Animation has named Iriya Azuma as director of its global licensing business department.
Azuma, whose position is effective immediately, will be tasked with directing international licensing programs for the studio’s top brands.
After joining Toei in 1986, Azuma worked on hit kids brands (Sailor Moon) and as a former EVP he helped develop websites for Dragon Ball Z and Slam Dunk.
The announcement comes shortly after Toei appointed Toei veteran Hiroyuki Kinoshita as the CEO of Toei Animation Enterprises and COO of Toei Animation and Toei Animation Europe, in a move to further expand its global operations.
