Pukeko Pictures has released a new app based on New Zealand-bred preschool series the WotWots, which Pukeko produces in partnership with Richard Taylor’s Weta Workshop (Lord of the Rings, King Kong).

Pocket SpottyWot, which is available on iTunes globally for iPhone and iPad, features the lovable WotWot blue aliens (SpottyWot and DottyWot) and allows kids to tickle, poke, spin and speak to character SpottyWot. They can also pet SpottyWot to help him go to sleep.

In addition, the app features a sneak-a-peek viewfinder that  encourages preschoolers to learn more about animals including giraffes, crocodiles, and elephants.

The digital deal expands the scope of the brand which is broadcast in 90 territories including season one and two on ABC4Kids (Australia), TVNZ Kidzone24 (New Zealand), The Hub (US) and Treehouse (Canada).

Recently, American Greetings Properties jumped on board for the worldwide licensing and merchandising rights.
