Toronto-based interactive studio zinc Roe is partnering with National Geographic Kids to create a series of apps targeted to preschoolers called Look & Learn: Animals.

The new National Geographic Little Kids-branded app series, which will see the first title launched on the iTunes App Store in early 2012, will use visuals and games to help encourage preschoolers to be aware of the natural world.

The initiative is National Geographic Kids’ first foray into the preschool app space after launching apps for older children last year, including Weird but True and Ultimate Dinopedia: The Most Complete Dinosaur Reference Ever on the iTunes App Store.

The deal sees zinc Roe add to its library of kids’ apps which includes the Tickle Tap Apps, the Stella and Sam App series, and its most recent topseller, Doodlecast for Kids.
