Connecticut-based mobile entertainment company Ruckus Media has been granted worldwide rights to develop storybook apps for iPhone, iTouch, iPad and Android mobile devices and tablets based on long-running preschool property The Wiggles.

The interactive storybooks will feature music by The Wiggles, videos and educational activities.

The first three English-language titles are expected to be released worldwide in April 2012 and be available at the iTunes App Store, followed by additional Apple and Android releases later in the year.

The announcement comes as The Wiggles franchise continues to grow across platforms. To date, the preschool entertainers have performed to more than 1.5 million fans since 2005 in the US alone. The Wiggles TV series airs in more than 120 countries worldwide (PBS Sprout in the US), and the group has sold more than 23 million DVDs and videos, 7 million CDs and 8 million books in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
