Disney EMEA has tapped Irish animation studio Brown Bag Films to produce The Happy Hugglemonsters, the latest series to be developed and produced by Disney’s London-based production hub.

The 52 x 11-minute preschool series is set to debut on Disney Junior next fall in more than 150 countries.

The series, based on the Walker Books’ series I’m a Happy Hugglewug by Niamh Sharkey, follows the adventures of five-year-old Henry Hugglemonster and his monster family the Hugglemonsters. The show is directed by Norton Virgien (Rugrats, Doc McStuffins), written by Sascha Paladino (Wonder Pets, Ni-Hao Kai-Lan) and produced by Gillian Higgins (Doc McStuffins, Octonauts).

The launch comes after another Brown Bag-animated series, Octonauts, was picked up by Disney Junior and will premiere January 9 in the US. Disney Junior has also seen wide distribution for Jungle Junction, another UK-produced series that has rolled out in more than 150 countries worldwide.
