Shaq to host CN’s second-annual Hall of Game Awards

Recently retired NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal announced via Twitter that he will host the second-annual Hall of Game Awards, airing on Cartoon Network in early 2012.

Last year’s show attracted 1, 487,000 total viewers and more than 37 million online votes were cast for the favorite sports stars trophy. It was hosted by skateboard legend Tony Hawk and featured appearances by First Lady Michelle Obama, LeBron James and Tiger Woods.

This sports award and entertainment event for kids, will be produced by IMG Media, the production arm of global sports, entertainment and media company, IMG. As well, Time Inc. Sports Group’s SI KIDS will serve again as the official media partner.

Michael Dempsey and Steve Mayer will serve as executive producers.

According to Cartoon Network, viewers can expect a red carpet, on stage celebrity surprises, icons from television, film, music and sports when the show airs early in the new year.
