Disney Channel has ordered the music-driven pilot Zombies and Cheerleaders, which could premiere on the channel as a series next year.

The story follows Zed Necrodopolis, a typical high school student who happens to be a zombie. Despite a high-tech wristwatch designed to curb any appetite he may have for his classmates, he and his zombie friends remain unpopular with the school’s most influential group, the cheerleaders.

The channel has also greenlit a second season of the animated series Fish Hooks, which will premiere on November 4.

The series, created by children’s book illustrator Noah Z. Jones, debuted last September to strong ratings among its intended audience of kids ages six to 11. Season two will continue to follow best fish friends Bea, Milo and Oscar as they tackle everyday tween life.
