Nickelodeon expands broadcast reach in Africa

Nickelodeon is now available to millions of new viewers in sub-Saharan Africa through a deal between MTV Networks Africa and Multichoice Africa.

Nickelodeon is now available to millions of new viewers in sub-Saharan Africa through a deal between MTV Networks Africa and Multichoice Africa.

The channel is now distributed 24 hours a day to an additional 36 countries in Central, East and West Africa on DStv channel 305. It will also be available on the DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access bouquets.

The programs offered on the Nickelodeon channel include SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, tween hits Victorious, Big Time Rush and iCarly and interactive educational preschool series, Bubble Guppies.

Nickelodeon launched in southern Africa in July 2008 and will now reach three million households across sub-Saharan Africa and broadcast in 47 countries across the African continent.
