Turner Broadcasting’s licensing division, Turner CN Enterprises, is rolling out new UK licensing programs based on Cartoon Network’s retro brands such as Cow and Chicken, Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory and Johnny Bravo.

A number of deals for the new Cartoon Network Originals brands have already been forged with companies including Fusion Clothing for promotions in Germany, Frumo BV for a range of stationery products in Benelux and LPP for adult apparel across CEE. Turner will also be working with Poetic Gem on a new Cartoon Network Originals apparel line that will be available to UK retail next summer. The categories are aimed at 12-to 24-year-olds and all feature bold images, color and character-led designs.

To support the UK licensing program, Cartoon Network will be showcasing a host of its classic titles from its studio library from 9pm every night, targeting young adult and student audiences.

The program it timed with the development of a new live-action feature film of Captain Planet – another retro brand from Turner’s back catalogue –by Transformers producer Don Murphy.  The environmental superhero will also see a return to apparel lines due to recent deals Turner CN Enterprises struck with Fusion Clothing in Germany and EJF (Environmental Justice Foundation).  The vintage look range of clothing and accessories will hit stores from the summer in the UK and Ireland.
