UK kidcaster CBBC has made a raft of new original programming commissions that include Jedward’s Tour Of Britain, Vic Reeves Project and two documentary series entitled My Life and Made By Me.
Initial Kids’ Jedward’s Tour Of Britain sees twins John and Edward Grimes, aka Jedward, turn tour-guides as they visit World Heritage Sites across the UK.
Produced by the in-house CBBC team, Vic Reeves Project is a new comedy-meets-factual show (13 x 28 minutes) that challenges children to answer questions asked by the CBBC audience: Could a dog ever really be Prime Minister? Do flying monkey soldiers exist?
Documentary Made by Me (five x half hours), meanwhile, takes children across the world to meet the workers responsible for making the everyday products they use, such as trainers and jeans. Produced by London-based Watershed TV, the new series will follow five British teenagers to the Philippines and Indonesia where they will witness the conditions under which their belongings are produced.
Lastly, CBBC documentary series My Life (pictured) is returning in 2012 with four new commissions (four x half-hour episodes, plus two more still to be commissioned), each following extraordinary children living in the UK.
