Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s new Pottermore project, a forthcoming online extension of the wizardry phenomenon that is rumored to have a user-generated element, is bringing Scholastic on board as a partner.
Once the website goes live in October, the publishing house will work to connect teachers and parents from its school and online channels directly to eBook sales via Pottermore and provide marketing and promotional support. In addition, Scholastic will receive a royalty on sales of the US editions of the Harry Potter eBooks.
On top of offering digital content, Pottermore, the details of which still remain sparse, is expected to have interactive elements that include gaming and competitions.
