Cepia, the maker of ZhuZhu Pets, has announced a worldwide television rights and home entertainment agreement with Universal Pictures for two feature-length animated DVDs to be released in 2011 and 2012.

With more than 62 million toy hamsters sold across the globe, the Zhu Zhu pets were the undisputed Toy of the Year in 2009.

LA-based prodco Moonscoop has been brought on board to help produce the features along with Prana Animation Studios. Both films will star the four original ZhuZhu Pets characters and follow their adventures in the “ZhuZhu-verse”.
