Nick Jr UK and London’s National Gallery are teaming to bring the art world to the kids world through a series of four short films entitled I Heart Art.

The series, which features selected works from the National Gallery collection, will launch on June 4 on Nick Jr and will continue to air throughout the month.

The series focuses on four of the Gallery’s 2,300 paintings: Henri Rousseau’s Surprised (pictured), George Seurat’s Bathers, Jan Gossaert’s The Adoration of the Kings and Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Umbrellas. Each film features two preschoolers visiting the National Gallery and viewing a painting that comes to life through animation. The preschoolers are transported into the image and in some films elements of the painting enter the real world.

The initiative was designed to allow preschoolers to appreciate famous works of art on their own terms.
