HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish a brand-new series of Dr. Seuss stories that were originally published in magazines in 1950 and 1951.
Launching in September, The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories by Dr. Seuss will consist of seven stories including The Bear, the Rabbit, and the Zinniga-Zanniga, Gustav the Goldfish, Tadd and Todd, Steak for Supper, The Bippolo Seed, The Strange Shirt Spot (the inspiration for the bathtub-ring scene in The Cat in the Hat Comes Back) and The Great Henry McBride. The stories’ color palettes have been revamped for their book publishing debut.
The tales indicate a transitional point in Dr. Seuss’s career that marked the beginnings of his rhythmic writing style with which he is now so closely associated.
