Mind Candy, the social online gaming publisher behind the ever-growing Moshi Monsters brand, unleashed its toy range onto the UK market last month and is now taking the items into the US with the help of toy manufacturer Spin Master. The Toronto, Canada-based toyco secured Moshi distribution rights from UK master toy partner Vivid.
Mind Candy hopes to replicate the early response to the toy line in the UK. Of Moshi Monsters’ global fan base, the US is the biggest territory, accounting for roughly one-third of the site’s registered user base (approximately 11 million users).
As the US distribution partner, Spin Master will be representing the brand at New York Toy Fair. The range includes soft toys as well as collectible figures. Many of the products incorporate special codes, which unlock extras within the site.
Following the toy launch within the US, Mind Candy will drive its North American licensing program throughout 2011.
