Disney Junior to debut this February

Disney Channel US is set to debut its newly branded Disney Junior multiplatform brand, devoted to children ages two to seven in February, replacing the Disney Playhouse programming block before migrating to a 24/7 channel in 2012.

Disney Channel US is set to debut its newly branded Disney Junior multiplatform brand, devoted to children ages two to seven in February, replacing the Disney Playhouse programming block before migrating to a 24/7 channel in 2012.

Along with the rebrand block, Disney Jr. will have an integrated website and VOD, mobile and paid download platforms.

New series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, starring Disney characters Captain Hook and Smee; a series of Disney Poetry Shorts, Babar and the Adventures of Badou (Nelvana) and Tinga Tinga Tales (Classic Media) will have a spot on the new block. Current Playhouse Disney series, including new episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Chuggington and an array of classic and contemporary movies, will also be finding a home on Disney Junior.

Disney Junior will reaching more than 99 million US homes as well as millions of viewers on 25 Disney Junior channels (currently Playhouse Disney channels) and free-to-air global broadcast partners. It will also be seen via video-on-demand and a broadband website, DisneyJunior.com. In 2012, Disney Junior will also debut as a basic cable and satellite channel in the US.
