Starz Media has sold its animation studio Film Roman to a group of investors led by former Film Roman President Scott D. Greenberg.
The terms of the deal remain undisclosed and the arrangement will see the new owners acquire Film Roman along with certain IP and development rights. Final closing conditions are expected to be met in the fourth quarter of this year.
Film Roman, the TV animation studio behind such series as The Simpsons, Super Hero Squad and the new Dan Vs. for The Hub, will move full steam ahead creating brands that work in multi-platform environments worldwide.
The new Film Roman investor group also intends to purchase Bento Box Entertainment, which Greenberg and animation producers Mark McJimsey and Joel Kuwahara co-founded in 2008.
