Teletoon unveils homegrown production slate

Teletoon Canada has greenlit five new Canadian original series and has also put an additional five into development, heading into the 2010/11 season.

Comedy series Crash Canyon (Breakthrough Films & Television), Detentionaire (Nelvana), live-action/animation hybrid series Mudpit (Cookie Jar), a social, web and TV-integrated series called GeoFreakZ (CCI Entertainment), and My Babysitter’s A Vampire(Fresh TV), a live-action series based on the MOW of the same name, have all made the lineup.

In addition to these titles, the kidscaster is developing the following new series with several Canadian prodcos: Quasitoon Tim (Sardine Productions), Artificial Idol (DHX Media), Gofers (Neptoon Studios), Sherlock Legacy(Bejuba) and the older-skewing Senior Years (Fresh TV). The channel’s fall 2010 schedule also boasts a large number of original productions including Total Drama World Tour (Fresh TV), Johnny Test (Cookie Jar) and Skatoony (marblemedia).

Teletoon has invested more than US$220 million in the creation, development and production of Canadian content since 1997.
