Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) has named Bandai America as the global master toy licensee for the ThunderCats franchise, which is set to spawn an all-new animated series.

Based on the 1980s boys action classic, the new series is currently in production at Warner Bros. Animation. Under the deal, Bandai and its international affiliates will create and distribute products worldwide that will complement both the classic and revamped brand property.

The new ThunderCats, a creative collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and Japanese animation studio Studio4 C, will air on Cartoon Network and feature the origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne and those who would thwart his destiny at any cost.
