Kids retailer Toys ‘R’ Us is taking an aggressive position on Disney Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story 3, launching dedicated Toy Story-themed boutiques and exclusive products in roughly 1,300 of its outlets across 34 countries.
In the US, kids can now visit the dedicated space at the front of every Toys ‘R’ Us store filled with an assortment of Toy Story-inspired playthings, including action figures, construction sets, role-play accessories, musical instruments and electronic devices.
Similar Toy Story 3 boutiques will open in the retailer’s locations around the world coinciding with the movie’s release in each respective country. In the week leading up to the film’s June 18 theatrical release in the US, customers who purchase US$25 worth of Toy Story merchandise from June 13 to June 19 will receive a complimentary Toy Story 3 movie ticket, while supplies last.
The promotion also extends to Babies ‘R’ Us, which will showcase a selection of Toy Story merch that focuses on room décor, with a large assortment of baby furniture, toddler beds, stepping stools and more featuring Toy Story characters.
The retailers website (www.Toysrus.com/ToyStory), meanwhile, is featuring downloadable coloring sheets and wallpaper for iPod Touch and PCs, and later this month a downloadable Toy Story 3 memory game will be available exclusively for the iPod Touch and iPhone.
