Disney EMEA has picked up new preschool series The Hive for global satellite broadcast on Playhouse Disney channels across 150 countries.

The CGI toon from UK-based production company The Hive Enterprises and distributor Bejuba! Entertainment is being produced by Lupus Films, Monumental Productions, and DQ Entertainment International.

The Hive (26 x 21 minutes or 78 x seven minutes) goes to air in early 2011 on Playhouse Disney channels in France, Germany (GSA), Italy, Spain, South-east Asia, Korea, Japan, India, Latin America, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

All licensing activity is being handled by Space Enterprises, the new licensing agency created by former PPC duo Mark Hurry and Steve O’Pray. The property already has UK licensees Aykroyds TDP and Blues Clothing on board for a range of nightwear/underwear and children’s apparel, respectively. Space is now looking to expand The Hive into key categories such as toys and publishing.
