United Media picks up merch rights for Poptropica

United Media will serve as the merchandise licensing agent for Poptropica, the kids virtual world launched in 2007 by Family Education Network, a division of educational publisher Pearson.

United Media is currently on the lookout for toys, apparel and room décor partners to launch a US-based merch program, targeting the site’s core six to 12 audience

Poptropica allows users to create an avatar and engage in narrative quests and online games. According to United Media, the site fields more than seven million visitors a month from more than 70 countries.

The content for the site was developed under the creative direction of Jeff Kinney, author/illustrator of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series.
