Global pre-school entertainment channel JimJam is expanding through Asia with the channel’s first launch in Thailand and a carriage deal with Indonesia’s largest platform, Indovision. The roll out across Asia coincides with a lively on-air channel refresh.

JimJam, a joint venture between Chello Zone and HIT Entertainment, launched in Thailand last week as a 24-hour service on Cable Thai Holding, a consortium of TV operators. The deal is estimated to see the channel reach an additional 500,000 subscribers initially, which is expected to increase to one million by the end of the year.

The launch on Indovision, which reaches 750,000 subscribers, follows JimJam’s launch on Indonesian platform Telkomvision last month. JimJam is a 24-hour service on the DTH platform and forms part of Indovision’s basic package and the Kids Add On, an à la carte mini package.

In addition, JimJam’s on-air refresh rolls out internationally from today on all its feeds, which broadcast in over 50 countries across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Chello Zone’s in-house production team has created a series of colourful and recognizable kid-friendly environments with a blend of animated and live action scenes. The launch theme is the jungle and will be followed by further themes later this year, including outer space, circus and the sea.
