During the week of November 16 to 22, Nickelodeon came in as basic cable’s top total day network with kids two to 11, six to 11 and with total viewers, pulling in 2.1 million sets of eyeballs.
SpongeBob SquarePants was tops for the kidnet, with three of the top-five kids’ telecasts with total viewers and kids two to 11 for the week. Meanwhile, the debut of the one-hour True Jackson, VP TV movie on Saturday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ‘Flirting with Fame’ raked in three million total viewers, averaging 5.6/1.2 million tweens nine to 14 (up 22%) and 5.6/1.5 million with kids six to 11.
Cartoon Network’s live-action fare is also a hit with kids, as Destroy Build Destroy (Wednesday, 8:30 p.m.), saw double- and triple-digit ratings and delivery gains among its targeted kid demos, compared to the 2008 time period. It increased kids six to 11 delivery (695,000) and ratings (2.8) by 27%, and kids nine to 14 delivery (656,000) spiked by 119% and ratings (2.7) by 125%. Meanwhile, boys six to 11 delivery (536,000) and ratings (4.3) went up by 16%, and boys nine to14 delivery (517,000) by 120% and ratings (4.2) by 121%.
As for animation on CN, Friday night’s new ep of Ben 10: Alien Force saw more delivery and ratings gains with kids and boys two to 11, six to 11 and nine to 14, compared to the same time period last year. Kids two to 11 delivery (995,000) was up by 5% and ratings (2.4) by 4%; kids six to 11 delivery (558,000) increased by 6% and ratings (2.7) by 8%; and kids nine to 14 delivery (522,000) was up by 20% and ratings (2.1) by 17%. On the male side, boys two to 11 delivery (801,000) increased by 17% and ratings (3.8) by 15%; boys six to 11 delivery (558,000) increased by 11% and ratings (4.4) by 10%; and boys nine to 14 delivery (438,000) increased by 28% and ratings (3.5) by 30%.
Over at Disney Channel, it held TV’s top-four telecasts with The Suite Life on Deck, Sonny With A Chance, Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb with kids six to 11, led by Suite Life, which ranked the kidnet as the week’s number-one network in total day in tweens nine to 14.
Phineas scored TV’s top regularly scheduled series this week in kids six to 11, boys six to 11, girls six to 11 and tweens nine to 14, with Friday’s new ep tying for number-one ranking as the top telecast of the week on all TV in boys six to 11 (tie). Overall with kids six to 11 with regularly scheduled TV series, DC delivered three of TV’s top four series, followed by Hannah Montana (#3) and Sonny (#4). And on an all play basis with tweens nine to 14, DC aired TV’s top two regularly scheduled series with Phineas and Hannah.
