As the 10th anniversary celebrations for SpongeBob SquarePants wind down, the iconic yellow sponge will be getting the Bollywood treatment on Nickelodeon UK.
The live-action Bollywood Bob is a Bollywood-style two-minute film (also available in a shorter 30-second ad format) produced by Nickelodeon UK in collaboration with Nickelodeno International and Nickelodeon India creative teams. It’ll air across Nick UK from November 14 as part of the kidnet’s SpongeBash, featuring back-to-back eps of SpongeBob all weekend, as well as running across the global Nickelodeon network following its UK release.
The 30-second format will run in Vue and Cineworld cinemas nationwide from November 13 to January 1, 2010 around seasonal film releases such as A Christmas Carol, Planet 51, Where the Wild Things Are, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and St. Trinians 2.
And, of course, the short will feature a new SpongeBob Bollywood dance choreographed by Longinus Fernandes of Slumdog Millionaire fame. Meanwhile, the SpongeBob theme song has been re-worked in Bangra/Bollywood fusion style by Akbar Sami and Firoze Patel.
