It looks like DreamWorks Studios is tapping into the supernatural trend as it takes on the rights to Simon & Schuster’s YA book series Wicked.

The New York Times bestselling five-book series is written by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié, which follows a young woman’s journey as she learns she’s a descendent of a witch coven and falls in love with a boy in a rival coven. Brothers Aaron and Matthew Benay, who have written the script for Pixar and Warner Bros.’ 1906 (2012 release), have signed on to write the Wicked adaptation based on their own pitch, with The Gotham Group on board to produce.
