It looks like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are trading in their ooze for Nickelodeon slime, as Nick acquires the global rights to the IP from The Mirage Group and 4Kids Entertainment for approximately US$60 million.
And with that news is the announcement that Nick is also planning to develop a new CG-animated TV series based on the superhero foursome, slated for a 2012 premiere, along with a new feature film in partnership with Viacom’s Paramount Pictures for that same year.
The deal also sees Nickelodeon taking on the TMNT merch rights and will continue working with longtime licensee Playmates Toys.
