A few months back I wrote about all the things I hated about preschool television.  And it was not a short list.  Well, maybe it’s because it’s fall and the air feels good or maybe it’s because I’m still delirious with jetlag from my trip to Korea or maybe it’s because I’m softening with age but today I wrote about all the things I love about preschool television.  And there are many things I love.

I love seeing kids laugh at the jokes on our shows.

I love that preschool TV attracts so many crazies.

I love when Jeffrey Lesser wins Emmys.

I love getting a check for something I did a long time ago.

I love the mountains around Banff, the hills above Cannes, the small towns along the Amalfi Coast and I LOVE drinking with the Brazilians at the rooftop bars in Sao Paulo.

I love that I work in the same industry as J.J. Johnson.

I love the phrase, “We have no notes.”

I love Australia.

I love the fact that we’re all working for four-year-olds.

I love watching the drama between Disney and Nickelodeon.

I love writing theme songs for preschool shows.

I love Joce and everyone else at KidScreen.  (Why else would I promise to write 500 words a week for life?)

I love Charlie and Lola.

I love going to Prix Jeunesse.

I love that preschoolers are immune to celebrities.

I love when kids write us letters telling us what animals we should save on The Wonder Pets!

I love my Little Airplane family.

And I love that it’s okay to talk about love.

I know I have been very critical of our industry in the past few months but this week I was reminded of all the good people and all the good work that surrounds me.  I feel very fortunate to be able to make programs for little kids and I know that most of you feel the very same way.

Oh, and there’s one more thing I love.  I love when people leave comments on the blog.  But you already knew that.

So what do you love about preschool television?
