Video game sales may have been down in the last few months, but Edison, New Jersey-based Majesco Entertainment has been enjoying a revenue increase in its third quarter.
Its net revenues increased 18.9% to US$17.2 million, as compared to US$14.5 million during the same period last year, reflecting growth in the domestic and international market. Though the gameco also saw a net loss of US$5.2 million versus a net income of US$0.5 million in 2008, it’s been seeing increases in its net sales for the Nintendo Wii and DS – 15.7% and 18%, respectively – for the quarter.
CEO Jesse Sutton noted that the continued strength of its Cooking Mama franchise helped generate its revenue growth, particularly with the release of Gardening Mama, though saw soft retail performance of its Go Play line and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
