In a promotion that will see him move across the pond from London to New York, Simon Philips has just been upped to president of worldwide consumer products at Marvel.

Former president of Marvel International Philips is now charged with growing the IP house’s global consumer products business, developing direct-to-retail relationships and closer ties with retail partners. As well, he’ll work on expanding the company’s video game and wireless licensing businesses and increasing Marvel’s presence in theme parks. If that weren’t enough to keep him busy, he’ll also continue to shepherd Marvel’s burgeoning global animation business.

Philips joined Marvel in 2006 as president of Marvel International and most recently oversaw its animation efforts and interactive licensing business. Previous to joining Marvel, Philips was MD at 4Kids Entertainment International.
