Walmart execs have unveiled the new Walmart Smart Network that will aim to provide its customers with useful information via in-store TVs.

The first rollout is the result of two years and US$10 million in research and development used to pinpoint the best locations for the project and the programming of the in-store net.

The system includes 27,000 screens in more than 2,700 stores across the US and will be able to deploy response measurement and message technologies by store, screen, day and time of day.

All of the content will be customized for each location, delivering product info to consumers at the point of decision.

The net will began rolling out across stores this month.
