Walt Disney Studios prepares Blu-ray releases of classics

In an effort to drive consumers to adopt the Blu-ray DVD platform, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing five additional titles on its Platinum Collections label.

In an effort to drive consumers to adopt the Blu-ray DVD platform, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing five additional titles on its Platinum Collections label.

The new Blu-ray slate includes Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 and Beauty and the Beast.

Each will be available for a limited time only, in a multi-disc set featuring previously unreleased footage and bonus features.

The first US release will be Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition in on October 7. Additional titles will follow, one per quarter, culminating with Beauty and the Beast in fall 2010.
