A well-known US hit with tweens, Webkinz World (www.webkinz.com) is looking to expand its reach across the globe.

Creator, Toronto-based toyco Ganz, is currently working on translating key elements of Webkinz World for several territory-specific sites over the next few months. Additionally, Ganz is launching an international Webkinz eStore (www.webkinzestore.com) to make the plush available in regions where the product is currently not stocked at local retailers.

The original site has enjoyed substantial growth across North America since its launch three years ago. In fact, Webkinz’ play pattern in which kids purchasing a plush also get a code that unlocks the internet world, where they can set up and decorate their virtual rooms, has spawned a new toy category.
