Scholastic will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on September 23, with the Harry Potter Cover to Cover Day.
The all-day read-a-thon starts at 8 a.m. and kids invited to the New York City home of Scholastic will read from the throne used by J.K. Rowling at her Radio City Musical Hall and Carnegie Hall appearances. The event will continue all day until the first installment in the billion-dollar publishing property has been read in its entirety.
In keeping with these high-tech times, the event will be webcast at www.scholastic.com/readharry. Each participant who takes to the throne and reads aloud will receive a special commemorative Harry Potter anniversary souvenir, and the first 100 fans to read will receive a free copy of the special anniversary edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
