Baby Boomer favorite The Banana Splits will be back on-air on Tuesday, September 2 on Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

The comedy shorts and music videos are the first prong of the multiplatform effort from Warner Bros. and its consumer products arm to relaunch the property that will later include a new website, DVDs, live entertainment and music CDs.

The Banana Splits are a costumed rock band whose members live in the Banana Pad while tinkering with their music and telling jokes. The property bowed in 1968 as hosts of the Hanna-Barbera production The Banana Splits Adventure Hour.

So far 130 shorts, between 1.5 and 2.5 minutes in length, have been lined up to air on CN and Boomerang between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. five days a week.
