FremantleMedia Enterprises and BBC One have tapped well-known Brit actor John Hurt to provide the voice of the Great Dragon in the upcoming 13-part fantasy series Merlin.

FME holds the exclusive distribution licensing and non-UK home entertainment rights to the series that was created and produced by Shine Television.

In addition to the Beeb, Merlin has been pre-sold to NBC in the US and CTV in Canada.

The series, which mixes CGI with live-action, will retell the classic tale of King Arthur and the iconic magician and is slated to bow on BBC One in September.
