Gearing up for the 08/09 broadcast season, president of Turner Broadcasting Sales David Levy has consolidated his team for Cartoon Network ad and consumer products sales. Three top-level executives are leaving, while two others are stepping up to take over those lines of business.
Earlier this week, Levy appointed CN vet John O’Hara to the post of EVP of ad sales and marketing for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, where he’ll now oversee all sales efforts for the net. Christina Miller, meanwhile, has been charged with directing global strategy for Cartoon Network Enterprises, moving up from her previous role as VP of US consumer products. Both now report directly to Levy and Turner Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media president and COO Stuart Snyder.
Exiting the Turner fold are Beth Goss, EVP of CN and Adult Swim sales, marketing and enterprises; Phyllis Ehrlich, SVP of CN and Adult Swim ad sales, marketing and promotions; and John Friend, SVP of Cartoon Network Enterprises.
In a released statement, Levy said, ‘The changes we are making represent a realignment of the division and empower proven, successful, leaders. John and Christina have distinguished themselves in their respective areas with the company and we have complete confidence they will thrive in their new roles. With the great team we have at Cartoon Network and Adult Swim Ad Sales, as well as Cartoon Network Enterprises, we are confident we’ll continue to set the industry standard in every way.’
Cartoon Network had just completed its 2008 upfront ad sales drive before the shake-up. The company would not comment on performance, but did say both CN and Adult Swim secured ad and promo commitments in the upfront.
