In an effort to beef up its kid appeal beyond the great webbed one, Marvel is bringing together up some of its most popular characters, including Iron Man and Captain America, to form the Marvel Super Hero Squad. As detailed in this month’s issue of KidScreen, a new TV series and merch program are in the works for the property.
And since KidScreen published the story, Marvel Entertainment has inked its first merch deal for the Squad with THQ. The multi-year agreement gives the Agoura Hills, California-based company exclusive worldwide rights to publish content for all current and next-generation consoles, handheld systems, as well as PCs.
The first video game title is scheduled for release in fall 2009.
