Despite triple-digit temps, a massive crowd of teens turned out last Sunday in Long Beach for the first open casting call for ABC’s new summer reality series Disney’s High School Musical: Summer Session (working title)

Newly named host Nick Lachey was on hand to welcome the crowd as they lined up outside of the Long Beach Arena.

The next casting call will be held Wednesday, May 7 at Champion Stadium in Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Both of these open auditions will form part of the early eps of the series.

The series debuts on ABC Sunday July 20 and runs Sundays and Mondays for three weeks, then continues Mondays at 8 p.m. through mid-September.
