Turner Broadcasting has commissioned UK version of Hi-5 for its Cartoonito preschool channel.
BAFTA award-winning production company Darral Macqueen will produce the 44 x half-hour series set to premier on free-to-air broadcaster GMTV in 2009 after Cartoonito bows the series later this year.
Hi-5 was originally produced by Australia-based Kids Like US and was recently acquired by Nine Network Australia and Southern Star.
To date 435 half-hour episodes have been produced along with 25 DVDs, nearly 80 books and 11 CDs showcasing the all-singing, all-dancing cast.
The original Hi-5 has been sold into 118 territories, including in Asia, the UK, the US and Latin America.
