•Pocoyo creator Zinkia has tapped Latin American broadcaster Televisa to handle all TV and licensing rights for the property in Mexico. The CGI-animated series will debut this summer on Televisa. As well, a toy deal is currently being negotiated, which will see toys on shelves in Mexico for Christmas 2008. A home entertainment deal has also been signed with top Mexican DVD distributor Tycoon, which will release a Pocoyo DVD collection in August.
•PorchLight Home Entertainment has acquired the US DVD distribution rights to the award-winning television program 64 Zoo Lane from Millimages UK, based on books penned by award-winning Belgium TV producer and author, An Vrombaut. The series currently airs on Noggin in the U.S. and the BBC in the UK.
• Starz Media and Tandem Communications are re-working their sales partnership. Starz Media will now handle worldwide sales of original movies, animated series and all other future programming, including animated series Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, Garfield and Eloise series.Through 2009, however, Tandem will continue to handle worldwide TV sales of several key Starz Media series and collections, such as the fantasy/adventure franchise Sands of Oblivion.
• BabyFirst, the exclusive 24/7 commercial-free educational and child development channel for babies, toddlers and their parents, will launch in Turkey on March 31 via DIGITURK. The platform is the country’s leading satellite provider reaching two million subscribers.
