One-liners: Noteworthy news nuggets

· Nickelodeon UK scored a record-breaking first quarter ratings performance for 2008. The commercial kids' net reported its best Q1 performance in its 15-year history, averaging a 14.1% share. Last week, Nick UK averaged a 16.1% share, which was the network's best week on record since 1998.

· San Francisco, California-based VIZ Media and Manga Entertainment Ltd., a division of Starz Media, have inked an exclusive DVD distribution deal for the UK and Ireland beginning in April 2008. On April 28, Manga Entertainment will begin distributing a wide range of DVD titles in the territories based on VIZ Media's successful manga series.

· Paris-based Toei Animation Europe, will stream new trailers for a number of its most popular animated series on corporate website (www.toei-animation.com). The following series will be showcased: Beet, Ayakashi, Flat Broker Sisters, Happy Lucky Bikkuriman, Lovely Complex, Yes! Pretty Cure 5, GeGeGe no KITARO 5, Ikkyu-san, Digimon Data Squad, Dr.Slump.
