TV-Loonland has signed its first TV deal for 54 x five-minute preschool series Penelope, which is destined to roll out on France 5 in the fall, as well as on DRTV Denmark and Hop! Channel Israel.

Penelope is already a well-established brand in Japan, with a broadcast berth on NHK and a full-on consumer products program involving more than 24 licensing deals secured by series producer Nippon Animation.

The property grew out of a book series published by France’s Gallimard about the everyday life of a three-year old chatterbox. Gallimard will simultaneously launch Penelope soft toys, gifts and collectibles when the series bows on France 5.
