Toronto, Canada-based IToys has been named the master toy licensee for the upcoming big-screen animated feature The Tale of Despereaux.
Universal Studios Consumer Products Group has tapped the toy and game manufacturer to produce a wide range of playthings, including plush and electronic games as well as room décor.
The film is based on the bestselling book by author Kate DiCamillo and will feature the voice talents of Hollywood A-listers, including Matthew Broderick, Robbie Coltrane; Frances Conroy, Tony Hale, Ciaran Hinds and Dustin Hoffman, and is slated to hit US theaters on December 19, 2008.
