The second day of KidScreen Summit was topped off by the announcement of the Shaw Rocket Prize 2008 finalists for this year’s US$50,000 prize.

An international jury of industry experts named Cookie Jar Entertainment’s Johnny Test Season 2, produced by Pamela Slavin, Shaftesbury Films’ Life With Derek produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Daphne Ballon, Laurie McLarty, Jeff Biederman and Suzanne French, and Sinking Ship Entertainment’s Roll Play produced by Blair Powers, JJ Johnson, Matthew Bishop and Elizabeth Haines, as the finalists.

Each year, the winner of Shaw Rocket Prize is determined by students from the Royal Conservatory of Music’s innovative Learning Through The Arts program (LTTA). Incorporated as part of the classroom curriculum, more than 700 students in grades three to five from schools across Canada will participate in the discussion, evaluation and selection of a winner from today’s finalists.

The winner of the 2008 Shaw Rocket Prize will be announced on April 30 in Toronto.
