Brown Johnson, former EVP and creative director for Nickelodeon Preschool and GM of Noggin, has been promoted to the newly created post of president of animation for Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group.

As such, Johnson will spearhead development and production for all animated programming on Nickelodeon, which will include more than 225 new eps of Nicktoons series in 2008. As well, she will be in charge of upcoming Nicktoons series including The Mighty B and The Penguins of Madagascar in partnership with DreamWorks SKG

Johnson is a 20-year Nick vet, and has been the driving force behind Nick Jr. and its stable of properties, including Blue’s Clues, Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go! and The Backyardigans.

She’ll be enjoying many bi-coastal jaunts, as Johnson will work from both Nickelodeon’s New York City headquarters and the Nick Animation Studio in Burbank, California.
